  Facial Implants

Procedures are available to increase or decrease the projection of the cheek, chin, jaw angle, and nose. We offer the following procedures: Cheek Augmentation: Cheeks can be re-shaped using implants. Cheek implants can be placed through incisions located in the mouth or through an incision similar to those used in lower eyelid surgery. Many different sizes and shapes of implants are available to meet any specific individual’s needs. Chin Procedures: The chin can be enhanced by placing an implant or by moving the chin bone itself. An implant can be placed either through an incision beneath the chin or inside the mouth. An alternate procedure involves bringing the chin itself forward. The chin is then secured in its new position with small bone screws or wires.

  Fat Grafting

  Lip Augmentation

  Proportion is key when considering lip augmentation. It is important to maintain proper balance in size between the upper and lower lip. A lip augmentation procedure can be done with the use of a number of different materials. Injectable Fillers: Most patients choose injectable fillers to augment the shape and fullness of the upper and lower lips. Injectable filler augmentation of the lips is done under local anesthesia with an expected return to one’s normal daily activities as early as the same day. Since the injectable material can be placed in either large or very tiny amounts depending on the patient’s wishes, there is more flexibility in refining the result than with any of the other techniques. The limitation of injectable fillers is that they are temporary. The results will last between 6 months to 1 year.

  Lower Blepharoplasty

  Blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure to remove skin, and/or to add or remove fat from the eyelids. The term “eyelid lift” is a misconception because the eyelid is not lifted during this procedure. During a lower blepharoplasty procedure, your surgeon will make either an incision directly below the lash line or an incision inside the eyelid. An incision inside the lid allows access to eyelid fat without visible incisions, making this technique perfect for patients who need fat removed or added.   At Associates in Plastic Surgery, we focus on our patients’ concerns to improve the appearance and contour of the neck. It is quite common for patients to request a neck lift to eliminate excess folds of skin along the neck commonly known as “turkey gobblers”. A neck lift is beneficial in removing fat that can hinder the look of a youthful jaw line. It also corrects jowls, deep folds and wrinkles commonly associated with aging. Improvement is achieved by removing the extra skin and fat while tightening underlying muscles. Draping the skin backward and removing the excess skin along incisions located around the ears can achieve this desired result. A small incision beneath the chin is often used to provide access to the middle portion of the neck. Using this approach, central fat can be more readily sculpted to provide a trimmer contour and the neck muscles can also be tightened if needed.

  Ptosis

  Ptosis (pronounced “toe-sis”) is the medical term for drooping of the upper eyelid(s). This lowering of the upper eyelid margin may cause a reduction in the field of vision as the eyelid either partially or completely obstructs the pupil. Patients with ptosis often have difficulty keeping their eyelids open. To compensate, they will often arch their eyebrows in an effort to raise the drooping eyelids. In severe cases, people with ptosis may need to lift their eyelids with their fingers in order to see or tilt their heads up. Children with ptosis may develop amblyopia (“lazy eye”) or a developmental delay from limitation of their vision.

  Breast Augmentation & Lift

  Women from ages 18 and up choose to undergo breast augmentation. If you have breast asymmetry from birth, lack of proportional development, and loss of volume after having babies, or saggy breasts due to gravity, you may be a good candidate. A consultation will determine your eligibility. Augmentation mammoplasty, or breast augmentation is a surgical procedure to increase or correct the size, shape or fullness of the breasts. To enlarge the breasts, your surgeon will place silicone, saline or alternative composite breast implants under the chest muscles or breast tissue. Your own fat may also be transferred to the breast. Breast augmentation takes about an hour and you will be under general anesthesia so you can sleep comfortably through the surgery. Most patients fear the surgery will leave significant scars, and to avoid this, our surgeons will carefully close your incisions with stitches placed beneath the skin, which leaves very fine scars that are barely noticeable. The sutures will not have to be removed; they will completely dissolve.

• Breast Lifts

  Some women are disappointed with the droop (ptosis) of their breasts, which can be caused by a variety of factors. Breast drooping (ptosis) may occur due to the body’s own natural predisposition or following pregnancy or weight loss.   Breast Reduction

  Breast Reconstruction

  BREAST RECONSTRUCTION IS NOW AN OPTION FOR ALL WOMEN. THE LEGISLATION MANDATES INSURANCE COMPANIES TO COVER BREAST RECONSTRUCTION. MANY OPTIONS AVAILABLE Women have several options regarding when and what type of breast reconstruction is to be performed. Reconstruction can be carried out at the time of mastectomy or lumpectomy (a breast conserving technique) or after the surgery, and all adjacent treatments (radiation or chemotherapy) are completed. Choice also exists as to the type of reconstruction. Whether an implant or the patient’s own tissue (autogenous) is used, the type of reconstruction is an independent decision. Reconstruction can be limited to the production of a breast mound alone or extended to include a nipple reconstruction or alteration of the other breast to provide balance. Breast reconstruction often requires several procedures. The first is to create the breast mound and gain symmetry. The second procedure, a revision and a nipple reconstruction is done after a short healing period of 3 to 6 months.   Male Breast Reduction

A small incision is made to insert the cannulas, negative pressure is then applied, and fat is evacuated from the problem area. For years, we have employed all variations of liposuction techniques including, the power assisted method, laser and ultrasonic.   Thigh Lift

  There are three options concerning the thigh lift procedure that pertain to the incision location. Circumferential Thigh Lift: Incisions are made around the entire thigh to improve both inner and outer surfaces. This result is similar to that of a lower body lift (torsoplasty), which is intended to correct excess skin on the lower back, hips, upper buttocks and outer thighs. It has an increased recovery time due to the more extensive nature of the procedure. Medial Thigh Lift: This is generally only recommended for patients with very limited skin excess.
